Feel the heat with “Born of the Fire” by John Leslie Hulcombe

353

“Born of the Fire”, a song by John Leslie Hulcombe, follows a poetic path of love, freedom and redemption that will get listeners’ souls and emotions soaring. The lyrics draw the picture of a person who has experienced the religion-less life, sinning and living in a state of disarray. Nevertheless, despite this storm, there is an indescribable feeling, of what is reverent to the spirit of the lord.

The song’s melody expresses feeling of freedom as well as having composure to uplift and encourage those who are struggling. These words are delivered not only to uplift and encourage, but also to inspire during the most challenging times in life. Their strong and catchy hook make it an earworm that will hit your lips even hours after you last hear them. Additionally, the Leslie does a great job voicing the lyrics.

The arrangement is very well done with bright strumming guitars and clever guitar counterpoints that lead up to an exceptional solo. Every instrument, from the vocals to the baselines, is distinctly captured due to the well-crafted production and mixing.

The song’s starting gives this right away, with its instrumentation that is merely mid-tempo and angelic back vocals, that mints the melodic that makes the listeners want to stay. At its onset, the song starts exploring the themes of love and redemption, and reminding the listeners of the feelings of hopelessness and uncertainty whether they have ever been in that situation.

The production quality is the best with every instrument and vocal standing out. The video implicitly aligns itself with the song. Its religious components and imagery serve as perfect visual reinforcement to its themes of redemption and spiritual reawakening.
