The music duo Xy Bird which is made up of Daisy who is a singer and  Andrew, a skilled composer and guitarist have just released their most recent song, “Makoma mu toffee.”

The title “Makoma mu Toffee” is a Ghanaian Twi language which means “sweetheart” or, to be more specific, sweetness or toffee inside my heart.

Xy Bird wrote this song with the intention of strengthening the sentiments of love and intimacy that already present within romantic couples. In “Makoma mu Toffee” they talk about the feelings you experience when your partner loves you deeply in a relationship. They also highlight how important it is to take care of each other, show respect, understand each other, and stay committed to one another in a relationship.

The musical arrangement of “Makoma mu toffee” is a unique work of art in and of itself. The lighthearted and upbeat character of the song conveys feelings of happiness and fulfillment to the listener.

In addition to having multiple layers of percussion, it also has guitar riffs that are soft, romantic, and delicate. Also, the usage of shakers lends the song both an authentic beat and the distinctive taste that is characteristic of Ghana’s Highlife music. “Makoma mu toffee,” with its indie-Highlife backdrop, is a remarkable example of Xy bird’s aptitude at genre-blending. It would fit in nicely on Folk Fabrique or Afro-indie playlists and is a superb illustration of Xy bird’s ability to blend genres.

This entrancing song is a further demonstration of how brilliantly composed and well produced it is, as well as how successful it has been.
