Mariaa Siga Releases a New Afro Drill Song Called ‘Daaray Dunya’


Mariaa Siga, a talented vocalist from Casamance, has been a rising star in the world of music over the past decade.

With a deep understanding of Diola rhythms, she infuses her music with the soulful essence of her native Casamance, while also exploring reggae, blues, and jazz.

Her artistic approach places her firmly in the realm of world music, celebrating the rich diversity of global sounds.

In 2019, Mariaa was recognized for her reggae prowess in the One Riddim Contest, earning her a spot on the compilation alongside esteemed names in the genre.

In 2020, Mariaa’s musical journey reached new heights, winning the Women’s World Cup and participating in virtual concerts during the confinement period.

Her single “Wama” garnered attention with its captivating music video, and she embarked on a mini-tour across France. Collaborating with French reggae artists for the Solidarity Project further showcased her versatility and commitment to her craft.

In 2021, Mariaa received a nomination for the Victoires du Reggae in the International Artist of the Year category, won the jury prize at the Festival Nuits du Sud, and was one of the 10 finalists for the RFI Discovery Prize. She was also selected for MAPAS in the Canaries and the Carthage Musical Days.

In 2022, Mariaa continues to shine brightly with her latest single, “Sama Nene,” celebrating the joy of motherhood and her commitment to her craft.

In 2023, she returns to her reggae roots, collaborating with the esteemed Artikal Band for two exciting tracks.

And she is here with her newest release, “Daaray Dunya,” which is on an African drill beat by FissBassBeats and showcases her ability to address societal challenges and reflect on the struggles faced by young individuals despite their resilience.
