The song compares the story of the love affair between the mythological characters Orpheus and Eurydice to actual love relationships that we witness and participate in throughout our lives. People fall in love, and situations happen that may set them apart. But there’s a saying that “true love never dies,” so no matter the complexities that may set people who fall in love apart, the love that keeps burning within their hearts and the yearning to see each other and feel each other again will bring them back. That is exactly what the chorus in this song preaches about singing: “Orpheus come back, Orpheus come home.”

Matilda claims that she has never written in this style before. After reading this tragic love story and sitting down, the song seemed to come to her from somewhere outside of herself. The song was made unique because of its beats, which consists of piano chords, a tranquil drum beat, and laid low kicks. This combination turns the song into a soothing, revitalizing, and calming piece. The instrumental was produced by Matilda when she was writing the song. The song was later brought to life in the studio and was mixed and mastered by Paul Stanborough.

The song “Orpheus” is a wonderful masterpiece of music that every person who likes soul music ought to listen to in order to enhance their romantic relationships.

Enjoy on Spotify.
