Odd Holiday Releases ‘Boarded Up Portals’ the 2nd single from the forthcoming Odd Holiday album

Music Duo, Odd Holiday(Daylight Robbery and Mattic) comes through with a new song called ‘Boarded Up Portals’.

‘Boarded Up Portals’ is the 2nd single from the forthcoming Odd Holiday album. This track embodies the group’s overall approach to hip hop, abstract cinematic soul with smooth, vivid lyricism. Odd Holiday goes left when others go right, making sure to board up the portal behind them after they enter. This track is simultaneously beautiful and haunting. Long drawn out angelic vocal samples shrouded in darkness provides the perfect backdrop for lyrical mind games.

Odd Holiday are a rapper / producer duo, half North Carolina, half North London. Daylight Robbery on production duties moves far away from his jazz origins and extends his range to a minefield of leftfield loops and chops, steeped in alternative hip-hop experimentation. Mattic uses his alias “The Ghost In The Machine” on the MC duties, and also co-produces the music, adding sonic sprinkles that gives the project its unique identity.

His vocals bring a laid back lackadaisical style that at first seems simple talk, but ultimately reveals layers of abstract complexity. While Odd Holiday keeps one foot in underground nostalgia (Madlib, Alchemist, Special Herbs) they also step into a new future, pushing their influences to new realms of the slightly odd, off-kilter and totally compelling.
